Hope Spot - Blue-Green Connections
Blue-Green Connections is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sustainable use of land and waters. It was formed in May 2019 as a result of work done to nominate the waters of the Florida Gulf Coast as a Mission BlueTM Hope Spot. During the course of the nomination process, the founders had the opportunity to interact with a large number of diverse individuals and institutions and gained a deeper understanding of the connections between actions on the land and effects on the waters – and vice-versa. They discovered that despite the different focuses and areas of expertise, there was a large overlap in concerns about unsustainable human practices and climate change, as well as a hunger for more information and collaboration to address the many and varied threats – connections just needed to be made. And thus Blue-Green Connections, Inc. was born!
